EOS Performance Institute is now offering Neurological Physiotherapy services!

Neurological physiotherapy is focused on treating a person’s neurological impairments obtained through a fall, MVA (motor vehicle accident), workplace accident or sports injury.

Neurological injuries can include:

  • Brain injury (traumatic or acquired)

  • Spinal cord injury

  • Stroke

  • Neuromuscular disorders− Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), Guillian-Barre Syndrome (GBS), Dystonia etc,

  • Neurodegenerative disorders− Parkinson’s disease

NEUROLOGICAL PHYSIOTHERAPY

Regardless of the injury, physiotherapists are trained with both an extensive orthopedic and neurological skill set. They will assess the client’s mobility and safety, muscle strength and range of motion (ROM) as pertaining to the client’s overall physical function.

Physiotherapists are always working with clients to help them reach their rehabilitation goals. A ‘hands-on’ treatment approach may be used to help someone re-learn functional movements that they used to be able to perform. This may include techniques such as the Bobath concept or Neuro-Developmental Treatment (NDT), which help to facilitate ‘normal movement patterns’. Other treatment techniques include therapeutic exercise prescription, gait and balance re-training, joint mobilizations as well as treating soft tissue restrictions.

We are able to provide treatment in the clinic, community, or home depending on the needs of the individual. We also welcome ongoing communication amongst a client’s rehab team including doctors, case managers, occupational therapists, rehab support workers, speech language pathologists, and social workers amongst numerous other healthcare professionals.
