Naturopathic medicine is the art and science of diagnosis, treatment and prevention using natural therapies.This is a distinct primary health care system that blends scientific knowledge with traditional and natural forms of medicine.  A naturopathic doctor is a primary care practitioner that seeks to restore balance to a person’s health by emphasizing the healing power of nature and focus on addressing the root causes of illness. Treatments are individualized for each and every person.

In Ontario, naturopathic doctors must have an undergraduate education, then graduate from an accredited naturopathic institution and pass their professional licensing exams before practicing. Naturopathic doctors are regulated in Ontario.
